Woody Guthrie Celebration

SFMS celebrated the musical legacy of Woody Guthrie, one of our country's greatest folk singers, on September 24, 2006 in New Cumberland. Several local musicians joined in a lively afternoon jam session of Woody Guthrie songs at Oxford Hall Celtic Shop.

We started the afternoon at the West Shore Theater with a screening of the 1976 film Bound For Glory, which based on Woody Guthrie's life story. The film won an Oscar for “Best Music, Original Sound Score” with its soundtrack featuring Guthrie classics such as This Land is Your Land, Going Down the Road Feeling Bad, and Pretty Boy Floyd.
