Experience Hands-On Folk!
Susquehanna Folk presents Coffeehouses, monthly Jam Sessions, Workshops with master performers, and many other events to bring folk music off the stage and into your hands.
Wayne Henderson is a top-notch guitar player from southwestern Virginia. He has participated in three national tours of "Masters of the Steel-String Guitar", has played at Carnegie Hall, and has earned top honors at the famed Galax Old Fiddlers Convention. In 1995 he was honored as a master of the traditional arts, receiving a National Heritage Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Henderson is also a reknowned luthier. He produces about 20 instruments a year, mostly guitars. They are owned by the likes of Doc Watson, Peter Rowan, Gillian Welch, and Eric Clapton.
Watson, a good friend who sometimes stops at Wayne's shop in Rugby, VA, to pick a few tunes, owns a Henderson mandolin. He said, "That Henderson mandolin is as good as any I've had my hands on. And that's saying a lot, because I've picked up some good ones."

"Helen, a native North Carolinian, has been playing old-time fiddle and singing folk songs since college. Also a composer, she has written many children's songs, and produced an album, "Nobody Smiles Like Me: Songs for a Kinder World," in 1999.
"Helen's simple, strong backup on guitar and banjo provides a solid foundation for Wayne's amazing guitar wizardry. Together, they take their listeners on a visit to an Appalachian porch -- an excellent place to be on a summer Saturday afternoon." ...from mountaintimes.com
