Songwriting Contest

2016-2017 Season

SFMS presents a Songwriting Contest, with cash prizes. Three finalists are selected by a panel; ranking is determined by audience vote at our Coffee House.

Montage of Songwriting Contest winners

Some of our past Songwriting Contest winners strut their stuff at our Coffee House.

Check back to this page for details about this season's SFMS Songwriting Contest. We've heard a lot of great new material from local songsmiths, and we're looking forward to sharing more of it with audiences here in Central Pennsylvania.

Songwriters submit their songs by email (mp3 and lyrics). A panel of judges selects three finalists from all entries. The final competition will be held at our Spring Coffee House. The three finalists (or musicians of their choice) will perform their songs, and the audience vote will decide the final ranking. Cash prizes will be awarded: $100 for First Place, $50 for Second Place, and $25 for Third Place.

Submissions should be consistent with a folk music style. Both music and lyrics must be the original work of the entrant(s). One entry per songwriter. Please review the rules PDF for full details.
