Folk Concerts at the Midtown Scholar ...New Info!
The Midtown Scholar Bookstore presents folk concerts in their newly renovated and expanded bookstore-coffeehouse (The Famous Reading Cafe). Visit them at 1302 North Third Street, directly across from the Broad Street Market. They're open Wednesday-Saturday 9-9, and Sunday 12-7. Browse through 100,000+ used and rare books, sip fair-trade coffees and teas, and enjoy their Yellow Wall Gallery.
Monthly folk concerts including:
- Oct 8: Mary Gauthier
- Oct 21: XPN welcomes Jill Sobule
- Nov 20: SFMS presents James Keelaghan
- March 4: Susan Werner
They have discontinued their Thursday open mic nights, but added free folk music:
"3rd in the Burg" free music third Fridays 7-9pm as part of Harrisburg's 3rd & 2nd street art-walk:
- 9/17 - NYC's Rebecca Pronsky
- 10/15 - Carlisle's Camela Widad Kraemer
- 11/19 - Baltimore's Transcendent Third
- 12/17 - Holiday Concert
"Folk Cafe Fridays" last Fridays 7-9pm with free coffeehouse-style performances by regional musicians. Maria Wilson performs September 24.
