This breakout folk trio explores the fusion of traditional folk string instruments, lush harmony, and earnest songwriting. They’re an unmistakable force in the Americana music landscape, and one of NPR’s “Best New Artists of 2024”. With special guest Vince Yarnell.
Established in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, and now based in Richmond, the trio, captures the collective spirit of three Virginia natives: Teddy Chipouras, Mānoa Bell, and Sasha Landon. Often described as a distant cousin to The Avett Brothers and The Wood Brothers, Palmyra nods toward Appalachian and Midwestern Americana, with intricate arrangements that create the illusion of a full, larger-than-three ensemble.
Their forward momentum in the Americana world is propelled by their craftsmanship and dedication to an intimate performance experience; at the heart of the Palmyra is the evident love and regard that the three musicians share for each other and their craft.
Palmyra has directly supported Watchhouse, Mipso, and Illiterate Light, and has won honors and recognition from institutions including the historic Newport Folk Festival, American Songwriter, The Boston Globe, NPR, Under The Radar Magazine, Americanafest, and Merlefest. They were named one of NPR’s “Best New Artists of 2024”.

“Yarnell leads the vocals and plays guitar and banjo with acoustic grit and smoky soul...” (Missy Smith, The Burg)
Vince Yarnell has made quite a name for himself in Central PA and around the Northeast with his band, Rivers. His 2022 debut solo album, “As Soon As Things Get Good”, shows off his songwriting and powerful voice. The playful catchiness of the upbeat numbers and gorgeous melodies of the slower songs make his music accessible and resonant with a wide audience.
