We are so excited to welcome “a musician’s musician” and an American musical icon, David Bromberg, LIVE IN PERSON with his Quintet, as our star headline act in the 2021 Susquehanna Folk Festival. Head down to southern York County for an evening of outstanding music in a lovely covered outdoor space.

Gates open at 5pm! Come early to listen to music and enjoy (for purchase) the vineyard's selections of wines and local beers. Food trucks will be onsite for dinner. The concert begins at 7 pm, with opening acts to be determined. This is a rain or shine event. See more notes below about the venue, seating, and staying safe.

Bromberg’s mastery of several stringed instruments (guitar, fiddle, Dobro, mandolin) and multiple styles is legendary, and so is the incredible cast of characters he's played with during his fifty-odd years on the music scene. But it all began with music and life lessons from seminal blues guitarist Reverend Gary Davis, who claimed the young Bromberg as a son.

Bromberg rocketed onto the roots music scene in 1971 as a session musician, playing fiddle, guitar, pedal steel and dobro, and working with artists including Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jerry Jeff Walker and Jerry Garcia. But a decade of relentless touring and recording burned him out, and he dropped off the scene, moved to the Midwest and turned his attention to the violin. He forged a new career building violins, amassing a fine collection, and ultimately moving to Wilmington, Delaware to establish his own violin shop.

Finding that he missed playing, Bromberg has lately returned to recording and performing. His first release after a 22-year hiatus, "Try Me One More Time," was nominated for a Grammy Award (Best Traditional Folk Album) in 2008. He's released five more CDs since then, including his most recent, "Big Road," in 2020.

The David Bromberg Quintet features Bromberg himself on guitar, fiddle, dobro and mandolin along with Mark Cosgrove (guitar, mandolin, fiddle), Nate Grower (fiddle, guitar, mandolin, vocals), Josh Kanushky (drums and vocals) and Suavek Zaniesienko on bass.
