Happy Traum is a much-loved and admired folk singer, writer, teacher, recording artist and first-rate fingerstyle guitarist. He was a student of blues guitar legend Brownie McGhee, who was a major influence on his picking style.
Afternoon Guitar Workshop
Blues & Country Fingerpicking:
Conquering the Challenge of the Steady Thumb
Space is limited for this in-person workshop, so register early! Folding chairs are available, or bring your own.
This session is open to any players, from early intermediates to experienced guitarists, who want to unravel the mysteries of the steady-bass thumb-and-finger styles used by blues and country pickers as well as by innumerable singer/songwriters. The necessary coordination of maintaining a rock-steady rhythmic bass while picking syncopated melody notes stymies even some advanced players, but Happy Traum has had fifty years of guitar teaching experience and, if anyone can get you picking this way, he can.
Open Blues Jam
Led by Hank Imhof
Join us for our first in-person jam since COVID hit — gracious goodness, it's been a long time. Local friend Hank Imhof is a terrific blues player and all-around great guy. Folding chairs are available, or bring your own. Listeners welcome too.
Happy Traum — in person!
We are so pleased that it's possible to gather for live music again! Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this outdoor concert. See more notes below.

ABOUT THE VENUE
Salem Fishing Creek United Methodist Church in Goldsboro, PA (just south of Harrisburg) features a picnic pavilion and a large shaded lawn plus amenities such as nearby bathrooms and ample parking. It is handicapped accessible.
Please bring lawn chairs and blankets. Those wishing to come early can bring a picnic dinner, listen to the jam session, or stroll on a short, adjacent wooded walking trail. No alcohol is allowed on church grounds.
Folks with pandemic-related safety concerns can choose to sit in family units and/or wear masks if desired. To reduce the need for event-goers to congregate, admission donations will be accepted online only and not at the event site.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the church sanctuary, which is also large enough to allow social distancing.
