COVID Precautions
For the Festival, we will follow CDC recommendations for York County, PA at the time of the festival.
Currently, that means:
- Vaccination NOT required for admission
Negative test result NOT required for admission
Guests may choose to mask at any time - Mask-wearing is ENCOURAGED indoors as a courtesy to others but not required
- Mask-wearing is REQUIRED at Contra Dance and Bal Folk Dance events, at the request of those dance communities
- If you have symptoms, have tested positive, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, please wear a mask or stay home to protect others.
SFMS is committed to creating a festival that is as safe as possible for visitors, volunteers and artists. Advance ticket purchasers will be notified of policy updates, and the policy will be posted here.
Kids and Families WELCOME!
Youth 12 and under attend FREE. With a full schedule of hands-on activities and kid-friendly performers, we aim to be one of the most family-friendly festivals you will ever come to. Be sure to check out our Young Folks' Zone.
Accessibility
The Expo Center is fully accessible for folks with mobility challenges. We are happy to help everyone enjoy all the festival offers. For questions and special accommodations, please contact us, in advance if possible.
Seating & Stages
All of our stages and seating are either under tents or indoors. Folding chairs are set up at all of our stages: first-come, first-seated. Please be fair to others and do not save seats while you're elsewhere at the festival.
You may set up your own chair, picnic blanket or canopy as long as it doesn't interfere with others' enjoyment of the festival.
RAIN OR SHINE! Dress for the weather!
Refreshments
Several food trucks will be on hand, and they'll appreciate your business. Yes, you can bring a cooler, but no alcohol or glass containers.
The New Roots Pub will sell a variety of alcoholic beverages. Drinks cannot be carried out of the Pub area.
Water, sodas, etc will be available for purchase at the food trucks and at the pub. A water cooler will be available for dancers in the Dance Hall.
Secure Instrument Check
Come to the Mercantile area to securely store instruments, chairs, coolers and other bulky belongings while you're at the festival, or even overnight.
Lost & Found
The Mercantile crew keeps up with Lost & Found. Items left behind after the festival will be donated to local charities.
Medical Assistance
EMTs will be available onsite. In case of emergency, see a volunteer (look for vests).
Things Frowned Upon
WRISTBANDS ARE REQUIRED for everyone on the festival grounds — no exceptions!
SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED in the festival area except in designated outdoor areas and the camping area.
PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED. We do welcome trained assistance animals.
ALSO NOT PERMITTED:
- drugs & outside alcohol
- firearms & weapons
- glass containers
- any activity that interferes with others' enjoyment of the festival
