The American Patchwork Quartet puts a fresh, personalized spin on traditional folk songs, using storytelling to bring timeless tunes to life in new ways. Their unique performance will change the way you think about traditional music.
This extraordinary quartet, nominated for “Best Folk Album” at the 67th GRAMMY® Awards, combines jazz sophistication, country twang, West African rhythms and East Asian melodies. They’re a powerful reminder that, like a patchwork quilt, the greatest beauty comes from blending unique pieces into a harmonious whole — a vision of unity in diversity.
At the helm is multi-Grammy-winning guitarist and vocalist Clay Ross, who is also the founder of the acclaimed Gullah group Ranky Tanky. With him are Falguni Shah, a Hindustani classical vocalist; Moto Fukushima, a Grammy nominated bassist; and Ocie Davis, a jazz percussionist.
APQ weaves America's cultural mosaic into an intricate and authentic musical narrative. Their carefully curated songs reflect the joys, sorrows, and resilience of a nation built on shared dreams and diverse histories.
Far from a random mix of genres, APQ’s music is a deliberate homage to America’s past and a celebration of its vibrant present. Like a cherished quilt, their melodies come together in harmony to create something timeless and meaningful.
