This sampler CD features 20 selections, some from familiar names (Le Vent du Nord, The McDades), with influences that range from Andalusian to blues, jazz to klezmer. It can be yours, just by coming to the concert!

Québecois fiddle master Claude Méthé is joined by the folk-trad "family band" Dentdelion who explore French Canada's Celtic and French roots.

Claude Méthé has played and sung traditional Québecois music since 1974. Self-taught, he has made his mark as a fiddler and singer for some 35+ years, playing with numerous groups who have left their imprint on the renaissance of traditional music in Québec. His repertoire includes both old songs and tunes, and his own compositions deeply inspired by Québec trad roots.

In 2008, Méthé's group Dentdelion flowered once again, this time in the company of two "créatures créatives" based in the Lanaudière region, Dana Whittle and Denise Levac. Dentdelion occasionally becomes a quintet with the addition of Colin Savoie-Levac and Béatrix Méthé, two young players with old souls.

Claude Méthé and his daughter Béatrix will teach a traditional Québec tune or two (by ear, very relaxed) and talk a little about the people and context where this music is played. At the end, Claude will throw in a couple of his own tunes and talk about his perspective on playing recently-composed tunes that are not trad but might become trad. Tune sheets will be available after the workshop.
