This event is part of a new series developed by the Susquehanna Folk Music Society and the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, made possible by a grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council.

The father and son duo of Eddie and Alonzo Pennington have traveled the country, bringing traditional Western Kentucky thumbpicking to new ears. They are both national thumbpicking champs. Eddie is also a National Heritage Fellowship recipient, and is considered one of the greatest thumbstyle guitarists alive today. Son Alonzo is an outstanding player in his own right, adding rock, country and blues to the mix. Together, they're simply hot-pickin' dynamite.

Guitar Workshop 3-5 pm
These two master guitarists will teach whatever the participants want to learn! If you can play guitar well enough to change chords, you are welcome in this workshop. Advanced players will get some special attention too.
Both Eddie and Alonzo will work with students who want to learn more about thumbpicking. If there's interest in learning blues and country licks, Alonzo can break off with a subgroup. Eddie often starts with a song at near-beginner level and teaches turn-arounds and frills to make you sound good, no matter what your playing level.
