Genticorum

Over the past decade the trad Québec group Genticorum (Pascal Gemme, Alexandre de Grosbois-Garand and Yann Falquet) has become a fixture on the international world, trad, folk and Celtic music circuit. They have three critically-acclaimed albums to their credit, with a fourth just released last year. This trio (often mistaken for a larger ensemble) has given more than 700 concerts in no fewer than 15 countries, and is showing no sign of slowing down.

Firmly rooted in the soil of their native land, the energetic and original traditional 'power trio' also incorporates the dynamism of today's North American and European folk cultures in their music. They weave precise and intricate fiddle and flute work, gorgeous vocal harmonies, energetic foot percussion and guitar and bass accompaniment into a big and jubilant musical feast.

"Genticorum makes a very full and glorious noise, both instrumentally and vocally... they have a compelling sound that retains its joy. This is a band that’s going to go places..." —Sing Out! magazine

...with Matt Brown opening

Matt Brown

Matt Brown tours nationally as a solo artist and band leader. He has performed with Paul Brown, Rhythm in Shoes, Footworks Percussion Dance Ensemble and Brittany Haas. He currently teaches fiddle at Chicago's Old Town School of Music. Matt will be demonstrating some of the tunes he learned during an intensive residency held in Grosses-Roches, Québec in summer 2011. Matt spent five days with Québécois fiddler David Boulanger, comparing and contrasting the music of Québec with Appalachian music from the United States.
