The 2009-2010 Concert Series presents...
Jaerv
Saturday, April 17, 2010
Concert 7:30 pm
at Whitaker Center Stage 2
Jaerv is a Swedish quintet, playing an extroverted, vigorous and heartfelt folk music with influences from both jazz and pop music. Together, the five members have created a homogeneous, vivid sound which has, over a short period of time, established Jaerv on the folk music scene as well as in many other forums. Rooted in several different musical traditions, Jaerv offers a varied stage performance where vocal, five-voiced tunes blend in with energetic dances and free improvisations. Their concerts have been broadcast several times, both on Swedish national radio and abroad, and the band has toured extensively over the last three years.
SFMS brought this group to York last year for their first American tour, under the name "Djärv". We're excited to introduce them to Harrisburg.
Last winter, Harrisburg's National Public Radio station WITF-FM invited Djärv into their studios for an interview with Casey Houtz aired on Weekend Edition on January 18, 2009. Listen »
