Bruce Molsky & Ale Moller

With support from Your Name In Lights Sponsors Bill Gulvin and Eileen Kozloff.

Made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

Swedish musician Ale Möller joins forces with American Appalachian musician Bruce Molsky to explore the dense web of musical connections, past and present, between Nordic and US traditions. This unique concert promises to be an explosion of collaborative energy from these two virtuosic musicians.

Bruce Molsky's calm and reverent approach to the traditional banjo and fiddle tunes of the southern Appalachians pulls off a difficult hat trick: he manages to take the old melodies and make them sound fresh and new, even as he retains the feel, tone, and context of the original source material, creating the illusion of an unbroken line between then and now. That he does this without making albums that feel like dusty museum exercises or ridiculous parodies is a true achievement.
—Steve Leggett, All Music Guide

Ale Möller is a master of many instruments who has found his way home to Swedish traditional music by many devious routes (notably jazz and the blues of Greece). He is one of the major forces in the search for new sounds and expressions of Nordic music. His mastery of traditional Swedish folk instruments allows him to bring new instruments to the old music with stunning results.
