The 2008-2009 Concert Series presents...

Tannahill Weavers

Concert 7:30 pm
at Whitaker Center Sunoco Theater

Tannahill Weavers

With support from Your Name In Lights Sponsor Rodney Owens.

Made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland's premier traditional bands. Their diverse repertoire and exuberant performances span the centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies.

The band's diverse repertoire reflects both sides of Scotland's musical heritage: the mystical quality of the Highlanders' Celtic melodies, and the rollicking fun of the Lowlander's Anglo-Scots tunes.  Contemporary rhythms drive their arrangements, while the Highland pipes keep a thread of ancient memory running through it all.

"An especially eloquent mixture of the old and the new." — New York Times
