Tim O'Brien

With support from Your Name In Lights Sponsor Bob Lane.

In cooperation with Seven Mountains Bluegrass Association.

American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius is a major initiative to acquaint Americans with the best of their cultural and artistic legacy. It is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

Grammy-Award winning multi-instrumentalist who founded one of bluegrass's premiere bands, Hot Rize. Get up close for this magical solo performance of one of folk music's most prominent icons.

Tim O'Brien is one of the spearheads of contemporary bluegrass. As co-founder and lead vocalist of Hot Rize and Red Knuckles & the Trailblazers, O'Brien served as a bridge between the traditional sounds of the hill country and the modern styles of bluegrass in the 1980s. Since the band's breakup, O'Brien has continued to expand the music's borders as a soloist, a duo partner with his sister Mollie, and with his band, the O'Boys. O'Brien's songs have additionally been recorded by Kathy Mattea, the Seldom Scene, New Grass Revival, and the Johnson Mountain Boys.

Kevin Neidig

Kevin Neidig excels at singing, instrumental prowess and songwriting. On guitar, mandolin or banjo, his nimble fingers extract magic from the strings. His arrangements are dizzyingly technical, with ingenious chordwork and melodic lines balancing the lyrics and vocals. In addition to his solo work, Kevin is half of the duo Voxology. Kevin also teaches guitar in Mechanicsburg and via guitar-yoga.com, challenging guitarists with fresh ideas that exercise the physical, the mind and the spirit. Have a listen at Kevin's MySpace page.
