"Irish Blessing" opens
Liz Carroll
"In an art form long dominated by men, she's an instrumentalist with such technical poise and unbridled energy that her concerts are thrill-inducing affairs. In a field where a player's sound is often defined by his county of origin in Ireland, Carroll, the child of Irish immigrants, is a product of Chicago's vibrant Celtic music scene. But her most unlikely achievement might well be that Carroll has composed more than a dozen tunes that have become standards among her peers."
—Andrew Gilbert, Los Angeles Times
Billy McComiskey
"Billy McComiskey is the finest and most influential B/C box player ever to emerge from the US. In that sense, Billy's place within the transatlantic pantheon of Irish button accordionists is both high and secure, and Outside The Box will only strengthen that judgment."
—Earle Hitchner, The Wall Street Journal / Irish Echo
Dáithí Sproule
Dáithí Sproule has been called "a seminal figure in Irish music" in The Rough Guide to Irish Music. He was one of the first proponents of the DADGAD guitar tuning for Irish music, and has played with Irish supergroup Altan since 1985. Originally from Derry in Northern Ireland, he has lived on this side of the pond for many years.

Irish Fiddle Workshop 2-3:30pm
With Liz Carroll. This is a workshop for fiddlers who play jigs and reels. Liz will teach a couple of tunes and demonstrate how she likes to bow and ornament tunes. It'll be fun, no pressure, and there might be time to talk about variations as well.

...with Irish Blessing opening
York's own Irish Blessing has performed extensively in the PA-MD-NJ-NY area for the past several years, sharing with their audiences the finest and purest forms of traditional music and dance. The four members of the Srour family make up this versatile group, led by parents James (flute, low whistle and bodhran) and Cushla (keyboard, flute, whistles). Their two sons, Jonathon (flute and flying feet) and Joshua (fiddle and flying feet) have both achieved World Championship level status with their dance. Jonathon, who ranked fifth in the world in 2005, is embarking on his second tour with Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance throughout North America and Taiwan. Jonathon and Joshua have performed with Eileen Ivers and with Cherish the Ladies.
